Please note the LATEST NEWS

Rathdown boarders, who sought an excellent education in a private school in Ireland, come from a diverse range of backgrounds and nationalities. Girls travelled not only from around Ireland but also from the four corners of the world, many of whom join our dedicated international programme.

They became part of a community that supports and embraces them during their school years and for the rest of their lives.  Many domestic and International pupils aged from 11 – 18 years old enjoyed full-time 7-day boarding in our two boarding houses on our beautiful school grounds. We also offered short-term boarding options for day pupils to ensure added flexibility for parents if away or to coincide with busy study periods.

Students can studied in an organised environment and outside of study time made the most of the extensive extra-curricular activities on offer, including a full programme of activities and trips for our student's participation and enjoyment. Our Boarders achieved excellent results in their state examinations and accepted places at the best Universities in Ireland and abroad. Girls left Rathdown School as confident and responsible young adults. As part of the boarding experience, regular outings and social evenings were organised and the girls also availed of the extensive sports and recreation facilities available on site. The boarding house was a sanctuary where girls ate, slept, played, relaxed and studied.

The variety of student nationalities at Rathdown promotes an awareness of cultural diversity, which fosters mutual understanding and respect for the individuality of others. The girls shared their living spaces and leisure activities, learnt about each other’s cultures and formed friendships that will last a lifetime.

Our team of dedicated boarding staff worked around the clock to provide a secure, supportive and caring environment for each and every student, ensuring peace of mind for parents and a happy, memorable experience for the girls. We aimed to provide a safe, friendly and fun boarding environment which reflected the qualities of a good home life, nurturing younger girls and guiding them through adolescence towards maturity.

By fostering self-discipline and offering the opportunity to handle responsibility, we promoted social confidence and assurance without arrogance.  All of our experienced boarding staff operated under the supervision of the Head of Boarding and provided the care, comfort and support which was important for the girls’ well-being and success. The boarding houses were a ‘home away from home’, a relaxing environment with an extended family of friends, many of whom become friends for life.
