Green Schools

Rathdown students are very proud of their school environment.

The Junior School is part of the International Green Flag Award Programme.

With six flags already behind us, our very enthusiastic Green Schools Committee is now leading the school towards the Global Citizenship- Energy.

This is a maintenance theme which gives us an opportunity to revise the Energy theme while looking at issues surrounding Energy on a Global scale.

The new school year will see us starting work on the 7th Green Schools flag, 'Global Citizenship – Energy’. The most obvious global link to the energy theme is of course Climate Change, the most serious environmental problem of our time – and intrinsically linked to our energy use.

As Global Citizenship is such a broad theme, it is spread over three flags (this will be our second such) and is linked to all the previous themes we have worked on. After the Energy theme, Marine Environment will be next in the Global Citizenship programme.
